Lewis Jumps (Way Over) Brighton Pier
I was driving back along Brighton Sea Front, when i saw a kitesurfer out in 40mph winds and massive waves, i thought to myself he must be seriesly powered up on what looked to be at least a 7m. Well turns out it was Lewis. Getting ready to jump the pier. Good work lewis.
Here's the clip.
Baited Fishing Poles
*** Warning *** *** Warning *** Some of you might remember last year or early this year, Big Van Man Paul came across some baited fishing poles sticking out of the sand, well last time i was out, i almost crashed into one over by the outlet pipe west of the launch area, Please be really careful if riding in that area.
Jake 'Big Air' Scrace - Kite Tow
Just in case you haven't heard or seen Jake do the crazy Jet-Ski Kite Tow, check out the video in the News Section It's crazy - Good work Jake.
Return of the Jellyfish
Looks like the Portuguese Man o' War jellyfish have decided to return to Worthing, a woman has been stung while swimming off Goring Gap.
Last year 10 of these washed up on goring beach, so there maybe a few floating about.
The Council have issued a warning:- Cathy Ridge, Worthing Borough Council spokeswoman, said "jellyfish could sometimes be found in the waters close to Worthing when the weather was warm." She said: "We would advise people to be aware and to look around them when they're in the water, but if they do get stung to contact the beach office straight away. That way, one of the officers can head straight out to that location to find out what type of jellyfish is there."
"We will be putting information out if it continues and we get more reports of people being stung."
Anyone who sees jellyfish in the water, or who gets stung, should call Worthing beach office on 01903 238977 or 01903 238977

Worthing Water Sports
Water Water Sports Demo Day - Sunday 4th July, 11:00 - 16:00. Ferring end of Goring Gap. For more info see the News Section
New Website.
Got bored of the old website, so have decided to redesign, makes it easier to update and i think it generally easier on the eye. Let me know what you think, i can easily revert back to the old one if people prefer. See ya on the Green - Tommy.
Sunday 25th April.
First Seabreeze session of the year for me..It was soo nice to get on the water. Even though i went out at low tide, the session was worth the walk in. Water was still abit cold, but no need for gloves and hood like the last few sessions. Drove pass the green late on and still people out making the most of the lovely conditions. Good Times.
Worthing Effect
Looks like we're starting to see the Worthing Effect kicking in, be watching the wind build through the afternoon and now getting gusts up to 20+mph, and looks like we may get a chance on Sunday, wind is forecast for light SWly winds, so with the Worthing effect kicking in we may get a decent sea breeze.
A date for your calendar - Sunday 2nd May - Surface 2 Air Sports are hosting a demo day down at Lancing, be worth popping along to check out some new kit. - Read more on the forum.
Monday 5th April
Quite concerned by the amount of kites on the green this weekend, I counted 29 kites spread out across the green, that’s a lot of kites for this time of the year, I know it was a nice bank holiday, but seriously, it's only just April. Worryingly, how many people will turn up during the summer months??
If you are going to kite at Goring I think it's best to try and keep the kites on the green in the same area, rather than taking up too much of the green, remember the green is for everyone not just for kites. It's things like this that cause the local residents to complain and bring unwanted attention to kitesurfing at Goring.
After Work Sessions.
So it's not been the best winter for us this year. Probably the worst i can remember for lack of south westerly winds, bit gutted really as i like the winter conditions. At least the clocks have gone forward now and wind is looking good for some after work sessions this week.
Why No Wind
Been a long time since i've been out, way back in Nov was the last time.Seen a few people making
the most of the occasional SW'lys, but these seem to be very rare.
I recently got a WaterProof HD Camcorder, can't wait to use it, so you can pretty much guarantee
that i have jinxed the wind.
Middle of next week, we might see a return to onshore winds, but this will be blowing from the east,
so it will be cold and probably not worth getting excited about.
Fingers crossed that we can have a nice long run of Sw'lys soon.
WARNING ***** WARNING ***** WARNING
Anyone heading out please be aware that just east of the pipe running out by Sea Lane Cafe - there has been report so f Steel Rods sticking out of the sand,
these are almost invisible unless on top of them. Apparently used for fishing - planted at low tide and with baited fishing lines attached, so at certain tide
times these rods will sit below the water surface - if you come down on one of these, your going to know it about...ride with caution.
Sunday 6th December - Windy Wsw.
Crazy session, never seen waves in Worthing as big as that. Took abit of a battering after miss timing the approach on some seriously steep faces. , Felt like
i was dropping in from about 10ft on some of the waves and riding wit h the waves breaking over my shoulder was pretty cool.. Wind was abit gusty to start but
then seemed to become more consistent as we hit high tide. Hope those who got out had a good one, and came away with a smile on the face.
Monday 16th November
Don't miss tonight on South Today 18:30- Watch Jake and Lewis jump Worthing Pier. Good work guys, must of been awesome!
Saturday 14th November
Windiest day i've seen for years, along the green, beach huts have been destroyed, Trees are down and general carnage across the southcoast. I paid a visit to
the local Spots, Lancing, Shoreham to see if any one ventured out, but i think today was just to much. Lewis and Jake were out this morning looking pretty
powered on their 7's, but come afternoon when the wind hit 70+ mph, thankfully no one was out.
Good turn out last night for the club meeting, thanks for those who came - Read more on the forum for more info.
Friday 13th November - Beer at the Bull.
A few of the locals are meeting up to discuss the Idea of the Goring Kiteclub. There has been lots of opinions flying around, so if you want to have your say
then try and get down the Bull this friday. See Forum for more details.
A few words from Ed
Hi all
Thought I'd take some time out and contribute a little something to the site.
Firstly i'd like to say what a good weekend it was, Saturday seemed like it was never gonna happen but then turned to be a windy sunny afternoon,
and those of us that didn't manage to get the best of the day were looking forward to a mild sunday.
Sunday turned out to be a classic Goring day with plenty of riders out, (nearly 50) local and otherwise making the most of the small tides good waves and hang-time wind. I personally had the best session ive had in a long time and came off the water with the adrenaline still pumping, though for others it was not so epic as I noticed there were a few people plagued with the to much beer syndrome. (lightweights)
Other stuff....
Some of you might have noticed a couple of show off young riders out there quite a lot lately and you'd be well within your rights to wanna sabotage their gear for being so bloody good and only weighing about 9 stone between them. Well they'd be the Sweeney brothers, Dan being the youngest who is sponsored by Cabrinha, and having just taken 1st place in the BKSA juniors series, and his older brother Ollie, the guys were Littlehampton riders but came to their senses and have now moved to goring, which is good for us.
The Club Thing...
I know its boring and its been talked about before on many occasions but its coming up again in conversations on the beach.
It now seems that its the way to go and a way to keep the numbers under control. As you may or may not know, Lancing now has a dedicated Kite zone and some of the riders are in the process of forming a club, with the blessing of the local council, Shoreham have already set up their Kite Club and Hove are also in the process.
So what does this have to do with us you may ask? the way I see it is that some people will not like to ride at lancing shoreham and hove due to this and if this is the case its only gonna drive the numbers up at Goring.
Im not sure how I feel about clubs anymore, I used to be all for it but it seems that no one else has an opinion about it.
So we can sit back and watch Goring become another Lancing or we can take some action
That's me for now.
see ya
Edd
25th October 2009 Wsw'ly 25+mph
Wasn't expecting that, wind was howling. Had such a cool session with some lovely swell to play in. Ideal hang time conditions, which a lot of people seemed to be making the most off, saw some huge jumps by the usual suspects. SA Paul up to his normal trick of jumping 20/30ft, 5 meters from the beach and in 3cms of water. Crazy! Ed getting some serious hangtime, and Charlie pulling off some awesome powered kiteloops. Good works guys.
Not much on this week, wind still onshore, but swings more south easterly. I'll try and keep you up dated.
24th October 2009 - Ssw'ly 20-25mph
Nice to get out on the water, been a long time for me since i was last out. Not the best session ever, but good enough.
Wind was a bit lumpy, but with nice rolling swell, made for some nice wave riding. Water not to cold either. : )
Wind for sunday looking okay, but think you'll need big kit to make the most of the conditions.
Winter on it's way!
We're entering the best part of the kitesurfing season, (my opinion) in terms of wind conditions and sea state. Over the years i have noticed that the waves/swell tends to roll in during the winter months.Wind seems to be less gusty and more constant. I had some of my best sessions in October through to Feb., great wave riding conditions. So get the short fins on your board and prepare to ride some surf!!!! : )
Water temp is dropping fast, so make sure you get your winter suit on, also if you can, try to head out only if there are other people out as well. If part of your kit fails while out at sea, your gona get cold quick, so you don;t want to be stuck out there for too long.
See ya on the beach - Tommy.
Unfortunately, following the accident on Friday 28th at Lancing. Mark passed away on Saturday 05th. My Condolences to the friends and family.
RIP Mark.
****** Kite surfing accident at Lancing *******
Unfortunately there was a accident at Lancing beach over the weekend, apparently, the kitesurfer decided to launch a kite far to big for the conditions and as the kite took off it launch the guy into the air and then smashed him into one of the Groynes, he was then airlifted to hospital. I'm not sure if it life threatening, so fingers crossed he'll be ok. If you do see people launching the incorrect size kite, then please try and have a word before someone else gets hurt.
Thursday 27th August 28+mph WSW / Sw'ly
Excellent session yesterday, seriously powered up my 7m. I got down the beach around 6pm, with the tide just starting to drop, Some lovely swell rolling in.
Water starting to cool down now, was out in my Shorty, which after a good couple of hours on the water, i started to feel the cold. Not long now i feel, till Gloves, boots and hood weather. : (
Next week is looking good too, so see ya on the beach!
Sunday 16th August 2009 20+mph WSW / Sw'ly
What an amazing weekend, Sunday was sooo nice. Really flat at low tide and with the really small tides only a short walk to reach the water. Loads of people out and with the wind building throughout the day, i think whatever time you managed to get out, would of been excellent..
Looking good from Thursday onwards, but could still all change. Watch this space.
Monday 11th August 2009
Nice un-expected session, with loads of people out, was good to see people making the most of the conditions. although the wind did drop around 17:20,it did return quickly and blow for another few hours, i was on my 7m and had more than enough.
Looking good for the weekend, especially Sunday.
Monday 27th July -Not enough for me.
Got down the beach around 17:45, loads of kites out, but just as i finished pumping up my kite, the wind switched off shore, did eventually switch back to WSW, but by then i was ready to head home. Hope those who got out early made the most of the conditions, some nice swell rolling in.
Thanks again to Colin for supplying some photos of the action.
Check out the new Video section on the galley page. Thanks to Mark for allowing me to add the video. More Videos to come soon, Watch this space!
Saturday & Sunday 18/19 July - Windy!!!!!
What a weekend, super windy. Hope you all had good sessions on the water. was nice to get out after missing the last few sessions and looks like more to come this week and into the weekend. Happy Days! : ) - Check out the photo's kindly supplied by Colin. - Thanks Colin.
P.S. How bad is the seaweed, like a swamp out there!
Saturday 11th July - Sw'ly 18mph (Just)
Wasn't the best session ever, but still nice to get out on the water, so much sea weed around, would be a nightmare if you ditch your kite in the drink. Huge tide today so it came in really quick, even at 11 (3 hours before high) tide was almost on the rocks. Going to try and head out earlier tomorrow, with hopefully better wind.
Monday 6th July - 35+mph
What a session that was, seriously windy out there. I got out around 13:15 with a few others, Jake, Lewis, Ross etc. Started off really choppy and gusty as the tide was still fairly high and after about 20 min's a big black cloud pass over and brought through some seriously gusty conditions. but once that had passed and the tide dropped a bit, came some awesome riding conditions. Jake and Lewis doing some mental mega loops, i swear Jake was in the air for about 30s, Chris while attempting megaloops, came down to hard and snapped his board and Adrian took a fall on his Waroo, no injuries reported though, so all good.
If anyone got some photos let me know, so i can post them on the gallery.
Friday 3rd July
Stuck at work yesterday watching the wind steadily build throughout the day, by the time i finished, wind was hitting high 20's. Got down the beach around 17:30 to see about 20 kites out, pumped up my 7m and headed out.
The water was sooooo warm, and with some nice little kickers made the session perfect. Nice to see some new tricks being attempted. SA Paul doing some crazy S-Bend flip thing about 1ft from the shore, which is brave, he swears he's landing them now, but i don't reckon : ) Jake and Dave pulling off some nice kite loops, backloops, and other cool stuff, great for the spectator. Hope the wind comes through today and for the rest of the summer. : )
BBQ - I'm thinking that for the BBQ, if we can get as many people to put in... say £10, we could get enough Food and Beers to go round, I don't mind sorting it out if people are up for it, but need to know numbers. 18th July is a date I'm thinking. If your reading this, let us know your up for it by posting on the Forum.
